3.28.21 목양실에서 (A Note From the Pastor)

교회에서 VBS 어린이사역과 메디칼사역 중심의 선교팀을 만들어 레바논으로 단기 선교를 다녀온 이후로 매년 여름마다 요르단(2회)과 이집틔(2회)로 단기 선교를 다녀왔습니다.

5년 연속 단기선교를 다녀오다가 작년에는 코로나 바이러스로 인하여 처음으로 못 갔습니다. 올해에는 백신 보급으로 많은 부분이 일상으로 돌아오고 있다고 하지만 교회 단기선교는 장담할 수 없어 고민하고 있는데 EM과 Youth 중심으로 7월 중에 "시리아 난민 영어캠프"를 위한 단기선교를 다녀오겠다고 합니다. 코로나 바이러스로 인하여 멈추어진 단기선교를 다음세대가 다시 시작하겠다고 하니얼마나 반갑고 감사한지...

반가우면서도 매년 단기선교를 다녀오려면 사역준비와 체류경비를 위해서는 약 $12000 이상이 필요하였습니다. 그래서 이 기금마련을 위해 전교인이 한마음이 되어 한 달 가까이 바자회를 준비한후 바자회날 하루는 온성도가 힘을 쏟아야만 했습니다. 이번 단기선교는 영어캠프이기에 $12000까지는 아니어도 $6000정도의 경비면 된다고 하지만, 코로나 바이러스 팬데믹 상황에서 어떻게 이 큰 돈을 준비해야 할지 고민이 되었습니다. 그러던 중, 불특정 다수와의 대면을 피하면서도 실내공간이 아닌 오픈된 주차장에서 할수 있는 crawfish boil 선교바자회가 생각이 났습니다. 그래서 관계자들(남,여선교회 회장단, 선교위원회)과 구체적으로 계획을 나누지 못했지만 4월 중순에 "시리아난민 영어캠프"를 위한 crawfish boil 선교바자회를 갖으려 합니다.

교육기관이 시리아 난민 영어캠프를 준비한다는 소식을 듣고 김호진집사님(파키스탄함대)께서 "send it"이라는 슬로건으로 선교기금 마련을 위해 4월 20일부터 24일까지 매일 자전거를 탄다는 소식을 듣고

저와 이인식집사님(키르키즈스탄함대)도 2회(약6시간정도)에 걸쳐 자전거타기에 동참하기로 했습니다.

다음주 4월 1일은 저의 생일날입니다. 눈치가 저의 생일을 맞아 식사대접 하거나 선물을 준비하는 분들이 계신것 같습니다(전적인 저의 개인적인 추측). 죄송치만 만약 그런분들이 계시다면 저에게 생일선물과 식사대접 대신에 선교헌금으로 주시면 제가 자전거를 타는 동안 구간을 정하여 선교헌금 하신 분들을 위해 기도하며 자전거를 타려고 합니다.

한분 한분의 동참은 다음세대에 의해 새롭게 시작된 단기선교를 굳건하게 할 것입니다.

우리는 순종하고 하나님은 역사하십니다.

홍형선 목사 드림 As a church, we have been going to mission trips to do VBS and medical ministry at Lebanon, Jordan (twice) and Egypt (twice). We have been going to mission trips every year for the past 5 years until last year when COVID happened. Things are getting back to where it was through vaccine but I was still hesitant of going on a mission trip. At that time, EM and Youth ministers told me that they want to go to a mission trip on July with a focus on "English camp for the Syrian Refugees." I was so glad to hear from our next generation to continue the mission work.

I was glad but at the same time contemplating on how to raise the necessary fund for the mission expenses which is around $12,000. To raise this fund, the whole church had to fundraise with all their strength for months. Because it's an English camp, $6,000 will be enough. However, it was still a trouble for me to fundraise the money in the time of COVID-19.

But suddenly, I thought of crawfish boil missions fundraiser that we can hold not inside a building but outside the parking lot to have enough social distancing. So the plan still yet has to be disccused with the Board members but we plan to have Crawfish Boil mission fundraiser mid April.

One of our church member, Mark (Pakistan Group) heard that there is a mission trip this summer and he came up with a bike fundraiser called "send it" which will be held April 20-24th.

In Sik Lee (Kyrkigstan group) and I will also participate in this bike fundraiser.

Next week is my birthday. (April 1st). I hear from people that they are preparing a birthday gift or want to take me out to a dinner. I accept the heart but I want to ask you to use that money to do mission offering for the upcoming mission trip instead. You can give me the mission offering, I will remember the names and pray as I am riding the bike for fundraiser.

I bless each person’s participate in this mission fundraiser. It will build as a foundation for this summer’s mission trip for the next generation.
