(Words From the Pastor)

Houston's long summer has passed, and now autumn has come, where you can feel the coolness in the morning and evening. I can't believe there was this kind of weather in Houston. There seems to be a scent in each season. In spring, you can feel the warmth from the smell of flowers blooming. In summer, you can feel the freshness in the grassy smell from the blue greenery. In autumn, the ripe persimmons are red under the clear sky. Lastyl, in winter, you can feel the warmth around the campfire as the sweet potatoes and chestnuts ripen. The scents of the season are the scents I smelled in my hometown when I was young. And I think I like the smell of autumn the most among the four seasons. There are people in our church who smell like my father and mother. There are people who always say it's okay for me to add one more spoon of rice and one more apple to my child's house, and there are people who are sometimes stubborn. I can definitely smell the scents of my parents when I see the Abraham Missions group as they are the first generation adults who built the church and raised their children by sacrificing everything they had. Sometimes they would eat cabbage with salt as they thought about kimchi and they didn't even learn English properly as they worked hard as they went through immigration. While conversing with a member, I found out that he had no time to travel back then, but now he has time but doesn't know where and how to travel. When I was young, I blamed my poor family, especially my father. When I see my father, I get angry, but it's heartbreaking because I think about all the things I didn't do for him before he went to heaven. So whenever I visit Korea, I go to my father's grave and pull grass and regret it. However, I would regret it if the first generation of 70 and older, who sacrificed everything for the church to come this far, go to heaven without giving them what they want. So I will go on a trip to Las Vegas (Grand Canyon, Sedona, etc.) for three nights and four days with them on November 15. While spending four days and three nights together, I planned to smell the scent of my father and mother, but on the other hand, I am worried that I would be the son who yells and treats their parents rudely. Haha. We ask for your love and prayers during the autumn season for our church and the first generation who devoted themselves for us today. We can only do well in the Lord.
